The buzz around the Adaptive CrossFit Games Open electrifies the atmosphere, especially for athletes gearing up to compete for the first time. This year, we have three adaptive athletes stepping into the limelight, ready to showcase their abilities and challenge the perception of limits.
The 2025 Adaptive CrossFit Open has officially begun, and we are proud to celebrate the achievements of three remarkable athletes: Scott Virlee, Jason Miller, and Christi Engels. This marks their first-ever Adaptive CrossFit Open, and their performances in Week 1 have already demonstrated their resilience, dedication, and competitive spirit on the world stage.
After the first week of competition, they are positioned as follows:
🔹 Scott Virlee – 33rd worldwide, Seated without Hip Function Division
🔹 Jason Miller – 20th worldwide, Seated with Hip Function Division
🔹 Christi Engels – 21st worldwide, Seated with Hip Function Division
With only the top 20 athletes in each division advancing to the Semifinals, Jason and Christi are within striking distance of qualification, and Scott is making a strong push up the leaderboard. As the Open progresses, they will continue to challenge themselves, refine their strategies, and pursue excellence with the determination that defines the adaptive athlete community.

Meet the Athletes
🌟 Scott Virlee – Scott’s journey to the Open has been nothing short of inspiring. He started doing CrossFit just two short months ago and has demonstrated commitment to showing up and pushing himself on every workout. His growth in strength and function is so fun to watch. This is only the beginning for Scott. Ranked 33rd after Week 1, he remains focused on continued improvement and is determined to climb the leaderboard in the coming weeks.
🌟 Jason Miller – Currently ranked 20th, Jason is no stranger to competing in various sports as an Adaptive Athlete. His disciplined approach to training and his ability to perform under pressure have placed him in direct contention for a Semifinal qualification spot. His next challenge will be maintaining his position—and striving to move even higher—as the workouts become increasingly demanding.
🌟 Christi Engels – With a 21st place ranking, Christi is just one step away from breaking into the top 20. Her strength, skill, and perseverance have been evident throughout training, and her focus now is on closing that small gap and securing her place in the next stage of competition.

Looking Ahead
As the competition continues, Scott, Jason, and Christi will push their limits, refine their strategies, and take on the next set of challenges with unwavering determination. Their performances already exemplify what it means to adapt, overcome, and thrive, and their journey is only just beginning!
We will be following their progress each week, providing updates on their performances, rankings, and key takeaways from each workout. Their dedication to the sport and commitment to adaptive fitness excellence serve as an inspiration to all.

The Final Chapter: A New Legacy Begins
Scott, Jason, and Christi carry with them not just their own hopes and dreams but also those of countless individuals on similar journeys. Win or lose, their influence reaches far beyond the gym, inspiring many to break free from limitations and embrace a life filled with fitness, resilience, and joy.
Regardless of advancing to the SemiFinals, these athletes are champions already, underscoring that the true essence of competition lies in the journey itself.
